On May 19, 2023, the 2023 "9th Global Economic Development Forum, China-Cambodia Business Leaders Summit", jointly hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Embassy of Cambodia in China, and the Global Economic Development Cooperation Promotion Association, was grandly held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This summit is an important event included in the activities of the Ministry of Commerce of the Kingdom of Cambodia to respond to the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by China. Representatives of the Chinese and Cambodian business communities had active discussions at the summit. They fully interacted and exchanged views on effective ways and realization paths to deepen China-Cambodia investment cooperation in new areas of investment cooperation and for win-win cooperation.

The Minister of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, H.E. Chhuon Dara, the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Commerce, H.E. Chea Vuthy, the Secretary - General of the Cambodia Development Council, the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Commerce of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Khaleng, the Director - General of the General Department of International Trade of Cambodia, Sa vin, and more than 60 leaders of the Cambodian business community attended the summit. At the summit, Minister Chhuon Dara delivered a keynote speech. In his speech, he expounded that the friendly relations between Cambodia and China have a long history, and the two countries are good friends who trust each other. Cambodia supports the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping of China, and the building of a community with a shared future between Cambodia and China has become a model of a new type of international relations.

In 2023, it marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cambodia, and it is also the "China-Cambodia Friendship Year". In the keynote speech, Chairman Gui Hanfeng, the founder of the Global Economic Development Forum, on behalf of GEDF, expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Commerce of the Kingdom of Cambodia for its preparations and arrangements for this summit, which enabled everyone to gather in the beautiful and charming Phnom Penh. Cambodia and China have strong economic complementarities, and the two countries have already established a good foundation for cooperation in fields such as cultural tourism, development zones, manufacturing, infrastructure, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges. The purpose of this delegation's visit is to gain a deeper understanding, conduct discussions, exchanges, and explore how to better integrate and develop with Cambodia's industries. Taking the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by China as an opportunity, we will continuously deepen the China-Cambodia strategic partnership, achieve mutual benefit and win-win results, and promote common development.
