On May 17, 2023, the "9th Global Economic Development Forum · Laos Summit", jointly hosted by the Ministry of Planning and Investment of Laos, the Embassy of Laos in China, and the Global Economic Development Cooperation Promotion Association, was successfully held in Vientiane, Laos.

This summit is an important event included in the activities of the Ministry of Planning and Investment of Laos to respond to the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by China. Those who attended this summit include: Minister Khanjane Vongphosy of the Ministry of Planning and Investment of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, the Deputy Minister, Dr. Vanthana NolinTha, Director of the Promotion Department, and nearly 60 political and business leaders, who are leaders of the business community in Laos. Nearly 70 representatives from the Chinese side also attended the summit.

Representatives of the Chinese business community delivered speeches and project roadshows in their respective fields, which were highly valued and paid attention to by the Lao government and enterprises. Representatives of the Lao business community also brought valuable projects, and Chinese representatives on-site made connections with the Lao projects they were interested in.

During the summit, Minister Khanjane Vongphosy delivered a wonderful speech for nearly 10 minutes, and Director Vanthana NolinTha also introduced in detail the current development status of various fields in Laos. Chinese entrepreneurs gave speeches and project roadshows one after another, attracting the attention of the minister and Lao enterprises.

At the signing ceremony, the Global Economic Development Cooperation Promotion Association and the Macau ASEAN International Chamber of Commerce reached a strategic partnership, and a Yunnan enterprise and the Lao KV Company signed a cooperation agreement on a lithium salt mine project with an investment of 350 million yuan.
