On September 15, 2021, the 8th Global Economic Development Forum Central and Eastern Europe Summit was successfully held in Chengdu, China. The summit was hosted by the People's Government of Sichuan Province. For this conference, the GEDF invited about 300 government officials such as ambassadors and consuls general of 13 countries in China, speakers, industry experts, and entrepreneurs to gather in Chengdu.

This summit was held against the special backdrop of the pandemic. The conference mainly discussed how countries could unite in the fight against the epidemic and explored business hotspots and opportunities amidst the raging global pandemic. The theme of the conference was to bring together the public and private sectors to promote cultural exchanges, economic and trade cooperation, and innovative development between Central and Eastern European countries, the Chengdu-Chongqing twin cities, and large and medium-sized enterprises.

Chen Changzhi, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the 12th National People's Congress, and Liu Xiaofeng, Vice Chairman of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, attended the forum and delivered speeches. Chen Wenhua, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Sichuan Province and Chairman of the Sichuan Provincial Committee of the China Democratic National Construction Association, presided over the forum. Luo Xia, Vice Chairman of the Chengdu Municipal Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of the Chengdu Municipal Committee of the China Zhi Gong Party, Sun Ning, Vice Chairman of the Federation of Industry and Commerce of Sichuan Province, and Liang Wei, Chairman of the Chengdu Federation of Industry and Commerce, delivered on-site speeches. Chairman Gui Hanfeng presented awards to the embassies and consulates of various countries in China, with the theme of the opportunities and challenges of the global economy under the impact of the pandemic and new opportunities and ideas for international cooperation.

During the most exciting roundtable meeting, ambassadors of various countries in China carried out unique discussions. Some participating enterprises exhibited a series of their company's products, including the promotion of "medical vehicle series products" in China's manufacturing industry, the toilet revolution: high technology helps solve the world's toilet problems, the reconstruction of the global value chain under the impact of the pandemic, and China's opportunities, etc.
