I. Basic Introduction

The Republic of Uzbekistan, is a landlocked country in Central Asia with Russian as its lingua franca. Rich in natural resources, it ranks among the strongest economies in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), second only to Russia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan. In August 2024, Uzbekistani media reported that the country’s nominal gross domestic product (GDP) exceeded USD 100 billion for the first time in 2023.
