Long-Term Sound China-Austria Relations:
China and Austria have maintained robust bilateral relations, with continuous progress in cooperation across various fields. From January to September 2024, the bilateral goods import and export volume reached $9.201 billion, making China Austria’s 10th largest export destination and 6th largest import source.
Strategic Cooperation between Sichuan and Austria:
In recent years, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, Sichuan and Austria have achieved remarkable outcomes in high-level exchanges, economic cooperation, and cultural exchanges. Their collaboration aligns with major national strategies such as the Belt and Road Initiative, the New Western Development Drive, and the Chengdu-Chongqing Twin-City Economic Circle, providing favorable conditions and vast opportunities for Sichuan-Austria exchanges.
Expanding Cooperation Potential:
There is significant room for growth in economic, trade, and cultural exchanges between the two sides. Sichuan boasts a solid industrial foundation, particularly in equipment manufacturing, electronic information, and cultural tourism. Austria excels in machinery processing, food, automobiles, environmental protection, finance, and tourism. By leveraging these complementary strengths, both sides can jointly build integrated industrial chains, share development opportunities, and achieve mutual benefit.
Forum Overview:
To further promote exchanges between China (including Sichuan), Austria, and Europe, and deepen international cooperation in key industries, the Global Economic Development Cooperation Association and the Austrian-Chinese Business Association will co-host the 11th Global Economic Development Forum · Austria Summit on May 28, 2025, in Vienna, Austria. Additionally, the event will feature the "China in the Yearbook · China-Europe Bazaar Exhibition" in collaboration with the China Yearbook Press.
Pre-Summit Promotion Conference:
As part of the summit’s preliminary activities, the Global Economic Development Cooperation Association, Austrian-Chinese Business Association, Sichuan Provincial Council for the Promotion of Foreign Economic Cooperation, Consulate General of Austria in Chengdu, Chengdu International Chamber of Commerce, and Sichuan Suppliers Chamber of Commerce will co-organize the Promotion Conference for the 11th Global Economic Development Forum · Austria Summit on January 15, 2025 (Wednesday) at the International Pavilion, Hall 5, Chengdu Century City New International Convention & Exhibition Center. Speech Segment:
Mr. Gui Hanfeng, Founder of the Global Economic Development Forum, Chairman of the Global Economic Development Cooperation Association, and Executive President of the Sichuan Provincial Council for the Promotion of Foreign Economic Cooperation, will deliver an opening address. He will review the forum’s glorious journey since its founding in 2013, emphasize its mission of "Creating Shared Value with a Global Vision", and introduce the 11th summit scheduled for May 25, 2025, in Vienna. With the theme "Sharing Opportunities, Co-Creating the Future", the summit will focus on global economic recovery, sustainable development, and technological innovation. It will convene political leaders, international organization representatives, entrepreneurs, and artists to foster business cooperation and build a new platform for international exchanges. Mr. Gui stated that the Austria Summit will elevate China-Austria and China-Europe cooperation to a higher level, driving high-quality regional economic development.
Guest Speeches:
Secretary-General Liu Xiaoxu of the Austrian-Chinese Business Association, Secretary-General Wang Ou of the Chengdu International Chamber of Commerce, Chairman Yang Xiaolin of the Sichuan Suppliers Chamber of Commerce, and Vice Chairman Lin Yue of the Sichuan Artists Association spoke sequentially, expressing their expectations and support for China-Austria cooperation. They hoped to leverage the summit to further deepen exchanges between China and Austria in economic, trade, and cultural fields.
Signing Ceremony:
During the signing ceremony, the Global Economic Development Cooperation Association entered into a strategic cooperation with "Guojian Zhenxuan" (National Yearbook Selection). Established by the China Yearbook Press, Guojian Zhenxuan serves as a brand empowerment platform focusing on "urban new consumption, brand innovation, and industrial transformation". Through multi-channel collaborations, it constructs a media and platform matrix to assist brands in market expansion and resolving sales difficulties.
Chairman Gui Hanfeng and Executive Director Wu Yuan of the Guojian Zhenxuan Working Committee signed the cooperation agreement, marking the commencement of a new chapter in their partnership and infusing fresh momentum into enterprise development.
Guest Sharing Session:
During the guest sharing session, Professor Wang Xiangyu from the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics delivered a keynote speech titled "Grasping the Cutting-Edge of the Era: High-Quality Belt and Road Cooperation and New-Model Productivity", providing an in-depth analysis of new-model productivity development under the Belt and Road Initiative.
Huang Mingke, Executive Vice President and Party Branch Secretary of the Chengdu Public Art Association; Zhang Wanjing, Chairperson of the Aesthetics Committee of the Global Economic Development Cooperation Association; Zhang Min from Sichuan Zhujing Cultural Tourism Group; and Lin Songxia, Secretary-General of the Beijing Health Promotion Association, shared insights on themes including Chinese cultural and artistic globalization, female entrepreneurship overseas, opportunities for enterprise globalization, and the significance of health industry globalization. Their presentations offered participants rich information and profound perspectives.
